Heating Plant Replacement
Client: Longwood University, Virginia
Year Completed: Est. 2010
The project brief called for the design and construction of a new bio-mass fueled heating plant to meet the needs of a growing University. The site identified by the University was the last open site in the historic “core” of the campus. This site was selected for its proximity to the existing steam plant and therefore the input side of the campus distribution system. The plant program called for a new plant of approximately 7,700 s.f. housing three 600 bhp sawdust fired boilers (two new and one relocated) and a fuel storage facility of approximately 3,800 s.f. incorporating fuel off loading and handling systems.
